PDX Young Makers: An E-textile Design Club

Image from pdxyoungmakers.com
Since fall 2011, PDX Young Makers in Portland, Oregon has been setting up makerspaces in parents' bonus rooms to work on e-textile and wearable electronics projects. A member club of the Young Makers organization, PDX Young Makers connects youth primarily ages 8-12 with the resources to make projects such as electronic pop-up cards, soft-circuit stuffed animals, and light-up clothes and bags. Their mentor is Shannon Henry of the Polymath Design Lab. These young makers also get involved in their community, recently presenting a pop-up e-card workshop at the Portland Mini Maker Faire. Check out what PDX Young Makers is up to at www.pdxyoungmakers.com!
